Three Big Deals

Deciding the Next Featured Artist

SeeSounds is currently discussing possible future Featured Artists with the industry’s Big 3 Players:

  • EMI Music Australia: to hold a Daft Punk screening of Interstella 55555, and other music videos.
  • Universal Music Group: to hold a Lady Gaga screening, coinciding with the launch of her new album, Born This Way.
  • Warner Music Australia: to hold a Kylie screening, coinciding with the Australian-leg of her Aphrodite World Tour.

You might not be fans of all of these Artists, but you have to admit that ALL of them have had some pretty spectacular music videos over the years!!

What’s not to love about Daft Punk‘s dancing skeletons, marching androids, and gyrating mummies!
You probably know this already, but Director Michel Gondry, designed this video so that each character would represent a different part of the track.
- The Robots (walking around in a circle, representing a vinyl record), represent the robotic singing voice.
- The Athletes represent the ascending/descending bass guitar.
- The Swimming-Capped Girls represent the keyboard.
- The Skeletons represent the guitars.
- The Mummies represent the drum machine.

Now, go back and watch the clip again and see how it works – it’s Awesome!!

This video was my first introduction to Lady Gaga.  I’d heard of her before this, but it wasn’t until I’d crossed the threshold into the fluorescent white, Bath Haus of GaGa that I was hooked.  Directed by Francis Lawrence (who also directed Will Smith in I Am Legend); this is a great track, and an even better video!

With a music career spanning more than 2 decades, Kylie has had the time to perfect the art of making amazing music videos.  This one is directed by Michel Gondry, who plays with repetition (one of his favoured video technique), as Kylie strolls around a Parisian intersection.

These were three of my favourites; now tell me some of yours..?

A Chemical Success!!

Review of the first SeeSounds Event.

After seeing The Chemical Brothers awesome SeeSounds Opening Night. Dendy Opera Quaysperformance at the Sydney Entertainment Centre the night before, several eager fans arrived early at SeeSounds’ premiere event, keen to continue the party.

It was 5pm on the dot, and our Winners of the FBi Radio Ticket Giveaway Competition appeared at the Dendy Opera Quays, saying they were keen to make a start on the green, Chemical Cocktails, in preparation for The Chemical Brothers Official Music Video Anthology.

The guests continued arriving right up until 7:15pm, when we had to close the doors and get the show started.

Inside the private cinema, we found the SeeSounds screening had attracted a handful of Sydney personalities, including Australian DJ, Dan Murphy; Sydney Photographer, Brenton Parry; Social Media Commentator, Cathie McGinn; acid stag Music Blogger, Jez Ryan; and EMI Music Australia Blogger, Kara Mukerjee.

The show kicked off with a brief Welcome Speech from Event Director, Simon Edds (see image below), who announced that Ed Simons (one half of The Chemical Brothers) had tweeted about the screening on his private Twitter account, letting fans know the event was on in Sydney, which was greatly appreciated!

One of the pre-show trailers was for a soon-to-be-released (maybe soon to be banned) zombie, computer game, called Dead Island.  If you haven’t seen it before, it’s a pretty horrific clip, and definitely worth a watch!

Over the 90 minute cinema screening, which was a first for Australian audiences, SeeSounds presented 18 of The Chemical Brothers best music videos on the big screen.

The audience would cheer and whistle when their favourite track appeared on the big screen, and the cinema erupted in applause at the end of several of the most impressive clips.  The room had an amazing energy, as everyone danced along to the Chemical Beats.

After the credits had rolled, the crowd stuck SeeSounds Opening Night. Dendy Opera Quaysaround to try their luck in the SeeSounds Prize Pack Giveaway!

We had 3 x First Prize Packs, consisting of:
- 1 x Collectors copy of Further on vinyl.

- 1 x Double Pass to attend the Preview screening of Battle: Los Angeles.

SeeSounds sends a Huge Congratulations to all of our Prize Pack Winners!

Since the event, several of our guests have emailed the SeeSounds HQ, to share their thoughts on the event:

Thanks Ed – we’ll see you again at the next event; and congratulations on winning one of our major prizes at the event!

More FREE Stuff!!

With Compliments of Paramount Pictures

Tonight, at The Chemical Brothers Official Music Video Screening, SeeSounds is giving away 20 FREE double passes to see the new Australian film, Wasted On The Young, which is currently screening in cinemas.

Critics are raving about the film’s cinematography, and some have called a “powerful, provocative and intelligent film” about school bullying and revenge.

I’ve worked with the film’s Lead Actor, Alex Russell, on an upcoming film, called Bait 3D, and have seen first-hand the level of intensity he brings to his work.

I’m looking forward to seeing this one!

Catch you all at SeeSounds tonight (for your chance to score the free tix!)

See You At The Show!

Logo. Pedestrian.TV

Just wanted to send out a Massive Thanks to the team at Pedestrian.TV for this awesome write-up about the SeeSounds event, which can be read in full, here.

To quote a piece from the article:

“…dress up, get loose and dance to your heart’s content to the British dance duo’s entire anthology with the kind of reckless abandon that you just can’t really justify in a sharehouse.”

As a taster of what’s to come for our audience on Friday night, here’s The Chemical Brothers clip for Out Of Control, staring Rosario Dawson.  Viva la revolution!!

Event Poster, by the Sydney Opera House

Just 2 More Days!

This morning, I was at the Dendy Opera Quays, doing a screen test for the event on Friday, and got a bit of a buzz when I walked past the front of the cinema!

Hanging on the wall, overlooking the beautiful Sydney Harbour, and the Harbour Bridge, was our SeeSounds/Chemical Brothers Event Poster!

This cinema is located in such a spectacular part of the world; and we can’t wait to share it with all of you!

SeeSounds Poster at Dendy Opera Quays
After the event, SeeSounds recommends indulging in a little coffee and dessert at the Guylian Belgium Chocolate Cafe, which is conveniently positioned right next door to the Dendy Opera Quays.

Round off the evening with a walk around the Sydney Opera House, and take in the city’s lights from along the Harbour Foreshore.
We live in such a beautiful and unique city – and sometimes this is easy to forget, unless you get out there and explore it for yourself.

When was the last time you shared such an experience..?
